Motions to Vacate Traffic Convictions
A Common Cause of a Driver's License Suspension
In New York State, a motorist's driver's license or privilege to drive in New York State can be suspended or revoked for a variety of reasons. One of the most common reasons for a suspension or revocation is accumulating 11 or more points over an 18 month period. Many times a motorist will retain our office to remove or reduce points on their license/privilege to have their ability to drive reinstated.
How the Process Works
The process involves our office making a motion to the court to reopen the case. Usually it will involve making a motion to more than one court based upon the amount of points assessed by the individual court(s) and likelihood of success.
Once the court vacates the conviction we proceed to defend the charge as we would any other traffic ticket. This will usually result in a reduction or removal of points on the client's driver's license and the client will usually avoid a suspension.
If you driver's license is suspended or revoked and you need to reduce points by opening an old conviction contact our office to speak with one of our traffic ticket lawyers. We provide a free consultation.
