Increased DWI patrols resulted in numerous DWI arrests in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties. The New Year holiday usually sees an increase in DWI arrests and State and Local law enforcement are know to increase patrols along such roadways as 684, 287, 87, 9, Saw Mill Parkway, Taconic Parkway, Bronx River Parkway, Tappen Zee Bridge, Hutchinson River Parkway and all local roadways.
Westchester County DWI
State Troopers arrested three drivers for DWI and various traffic infractions in Westchester County in Yorktown, North Salem and Harrison. Additional arrests occurred in North Castle and New Castle. In New Castle a DWI arrest occurred after an multicar accident resulted in a hospitalization.
In Addition, Port Chester, Bedford, Ossining and Peekskill saw increased DWI arrests over the holiday.
Rockland County DWI Arrests
Over the holiday six driver's were arrested for DWI in the towns of Orangetown, New City, Nyack and Sloatsburgh.
Putnam County DWI Arrests
In Putnam County there were increased DWI arrests in Brewster, Southeast, Carmel, Kent, Mahopac, Patterson and Cold Spring. These arrests were mostly by State Troopers on the major surrounding highways and almost all motorists were also charged with a violation of the vehicle and traffic law.
